Soma is used to relax muscles which can work by blocking pain sensation between the nerves and brain. This medication can be used to treat injuries and other painful musculoskeletal conditions with the physical therapy.

Important information about Soma

This medication should be used only by prescribed person as it may be habit forming. This medication should not be given to drug addicted persons. There may be some withdrawal symptoms if you have stopped taking Soma after use of long period. You should not stop taking this medication without telling your doctor. It can impair you thinking causing suicide affects. You should avoid drinking alcohol as it can cause dizziness and sleepiness.

Before taking Soma

You should not use Soma if you are allergic to this medication or if you have prophyria. If you have liver disease, kidney disease or seizure disorder then you should tell your doctor before using Soma. This medication should not be stopped suddenly rather it should be stopped gradually. This medication can be harmful to unborn babies therefore you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant woman. You should also not take this medication if you are a breast feeding baby. This medication should not be given to children younger than 12 years old.

How should I take Soma?

Soma should be taken as it is prescribed for and larger amounts should not be taken than the recommendations of doctor. Follow the instructions of your doctor. This medication should be taken with full glass of water and it should be stored at room temperature.

What happens if I miss a dose?

You should take the missed dose when you remember it but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Extra medicine should not be taken in order to make up the missed dose.

What happens if I overdose?

You should get emergency medical help if you have taken overdose of Soma. There can be symptoms of overdose like shallow breathing, muscle stiffness, light headed feeling, vision problems, fast heartbeat, fainting or seizure.

What should I avoid while taking Soma?

There can be some side effects of soma which can impair your thinking. There can be problems for you if you take Soma with the allergy medicines, sleeping pills, muscle relaxers, and medicines for depression, anxiety or seizure. You should tell your doctor if you are using any other medicines. Alcohol should be avoided as it can increase drowsiness and dizziness when taken with Soma.

Soma side effects

If you have allergic reaction, hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of lips, tongue, or throat then you should tell your doctor. If you have side effects like paralysis, extreme weakness, fast heartbeat, seizure, vision loss or agitation then you should stop taking Soma and contact your doctor. There can be some other side effects as well like headache, blurred vision, depression, sleep problems, tremors, dizziness, nausea, vomiting or stomach upset.

What other drugs will affect Soma?

You should tell your doctors about all durgs you are taking as there may be some drugs that can affect soma. These drugs might include vitamins, minerals and herbal products. You should not start taking new without permission of your doctor.
